Crocked again: Joel Obi suffers thigh injury in Torino’s victory

Nigeria midfielder Joel Obi only lasted 10 minutes in Torino’s 0-1 away victory at Benevento due to a thigh injury.

The Nigeria international went down holding his thigh minutes after kickoff and was soon replaced by Ghanaian midfielder Afriye Acquah.

Torino left it late until Iago Falque fired in the only goal of the game deep into stoppage time for the Turin club to claim all three points against the newly promoted Serie A side.

Until his injury, Obi had started the new season in fine form scoring the third goal in Torino’s 3-0 victory over Sassuolo on matchday two.

This latest setback comes at a time the former Inter Milan and Parma midfielder was enjoying a fresh start under Sinisa Mihajlovic after an injury-plagued career.

The 26-year-old Nigerian will find out how long he will be out for in the coming days.
