It was a day to forget for Super Eagles Odion Ighalo as his Changchun Yatai side who held Shanghai Shenhua to a 1-1 draw on matchday one were walloped 0-5 by reigning Chinese Super League champions Guangzhou Evergrande on Friday afternoon.

Guangzhou Evergrande rolled over Yatai who had the Super Eagles forward play from start to finish and remains in search of his first league goal of the season.

After a goalless first half, Gao Lin opened the flood gate of goals in the 52nd minutes before Ricardo Goulart netted two goals in the space of six minutes (60th and 66th minute).

It became worse for Changchun Yatai when Alan who came on as a substitute scored a brace in the last 10 minutes of the encounter to ensure Yatai return home empty handed.

All the attacking threat of Ighalo was nullified by the defence of Guangzhou Evergrande led by Zhang Chenglin and Feng Xiaoting.

The result means Yatai is yet to record a victory in the new season after two rounds of the Chinese Super League.
