Odion Ighalo

Odion Ighalo scored the equalizer for Changchun Yatai in their 1-1 draw at home to Beijing Renhe in match day 3 of the Chinese – Super League early kickoff on Sunday.

Ighalo has featured in all three games played so far in the 3 week-old Chinese League season but they are yet to secure a win so far.

Beijing Renhe took the lead in the 29th minute when Gang Wang pounced on Jaime Ayovi’s through ball to score but Odion Ighalo made pressure pay in the 42nd minute, netting his first goal of the season.

Ighalo and his Changchun Yatai  teammates tried unsuccessfully to win the game in the second half but were undone by poor finishing as the match ended 1-1 leaving them in search of their first win this season.

John Obi Mikel in action

Elsewhere Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel led out Tianjin Teda up against visiting Tianjin Quanjian at their Tianjin Olympic Sports Centre home ground.

Frank Acheampong gave Teda an early lead in the 16th minute of the first half, but early into the second half former AC Milan forward and Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato equalized in the 54th minute for the visitors.

Tianjin Teda looked headed for a second consecutive defeat when former Bundesliga prolific scorer Anthony Modeste scored for Quanjian in 74th minute to seemingly complete a turn around for the visitors.

However Super Eagles maestro John Obi Mikel who was yellow carded in the 39th minute refused to back down and carved an opening with a good assist for Acheampong to grab his second goal of the game in the 84th minute.

Frank Acheampong then completed his hat trick in the 90th minute to win it for Tianjin Teda who by so doing secured their first victory and three points after Winning one and losing the other of their opening two games.

Former Inter Milan striker Obafemi Martins was missing in the match day squad for Shanghai Shenhua that beat Guizhou Hengfeng 1-0 away from home.

John Obi Mikel and Odion Ighalo will now head for the Super Eagles Camp ahead of their friendly matches against Poland and Serbia next week in the best possible form, which is great news for coach Gernot Rohr.
