Enyimba FC goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda has apologized to the club’s fans and supporters for the red card he picked up in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 19 fixture played in Calabar on Sunday.

Dauda was sent off for violent conduct after he head-butted Akwa United’s Ifeanyi Ede in the 41st minute of the encounter.

The Ghanaian international in a statement released by the club’s media department revealed his remorse at the ugly incident and promised to refrain from any such action in the future.

“I want to apologize on what happened. As a player I should have had patience on that incident. It’s very unfortunate that happened.

“Who knows, we would’ve won the game with 11 players on the pitch. My red card disorganized everything on the pitch.

“The only thing I can do is to ask for forgiveness from the fans, the players and the whole team. They should forgive me so we can move on as a team. I am sorry and it will not happen again. Thank you.”

Enyimba FC were held to a barren draw by visiting Akwa United and will now turn their attention to hosting Djoliba AC of Mali in their first CAF Confederation Cup group stage encounter scheduled to hold this weekend.
