Dennis Bonaventure inspires Club Brugge fightback in thriller


Nigerian striker Dennis Bonaventure put behind him his barren run of games in the Belgian League without scoring as he returned to form with a goal in Club Brugge’s come from behind 2-2 draw with Eupen FC.

Bonaventure who is still only 20-years-old scored in the 68th minute for run away Belgian first Division leaders Club Brugge to inspire a dramatic come back from 2 goals down in the first half following strikes from Mbaye Leye and Jordan Loties in the 18th minutes.

A dramatic 90th minute penalty from Ruud Vormer completed the comeback for Brugge in-between a yellow card shown to Bonaventure in the 79th minute.

The Nigerian who joined Club Brugge from Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk in the summer broke his dry spell in front of goal on Thursday with two excellent goals against Zulte Wagerem in a cup match. His last goal was on October 10 when he scored against Gent in a 2-1 win.

Dennis Bonaventure who can play as the arrow center forward or as an attacking left winger has now scored 7 goals in 14 matches.

Club Brugge have 41 points from 17 games, 6 points clear of closest rivals Sporting Charleroi in second place.
