Dogo happy to make do with Enugu point

Rangers (in white) have struggled to replicate last seasons good form.

Nasarawa United coach Kabiru Dogo is happy to make do with a point from their Week 23 NPFL match against league champions Enugu Rangers.

A 75th minute goal from Thomas Zenke had put the solid miners in front at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu but Godwin Aguda’s 80th minute strike for the home side ensured the game ended even.

Dogo says his side had arrived Enugu knowing they could get all three points at stake but will have to settle for just the one point in what he described as a very tough NPFL.

“Our league is tough. If you secure an away point outside, a point like this is very important” said Dogo speaking at the post match press conference.

“If Ifeanyi Ubah can beat 3SC in Ibadan then anybody can win anywhere. We came for victory but at the same time we have to appreciate the one point” added a non too ecstatic Dogo.

The Nasarawa United coach was of the opinion that a defensive blunder at the back cost his side all three points but was quick to point out mistakes were always bound to occur in football matches at whatever level.

“If the boys had calmed down and had not lost concentration we would have gone with the three points.

“As far as football is concerned there is no day you can get a complete team. Be it Champions league, National team, there would be mistakes and punishment for the mistakes.

“I think we paid for our mistake today and we’ll go back and correct the mistakes.”

The win sees Nasarawa move up one spot on the league table to 9th and they will next be in action against 13th placed Katsina United in mid-week.
