… Camp update ahead of Uganda friendly
Nigeria’s delegation to Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa have landed safely in Asaba, Delta State, Naijafootballplus.com reports.
The contingent landed at the Asaba Airport 11.15am Nigeria time after a long journey from the city of Johannesburg and one hour stop-over in Angola.
South Africa forced Nigeria to a 1-1 draw at the FNB Stadium, Johannesburg on Saturday evening. The result confirmed the three-time African champions 2019 AFCON ticket with 10 points from five games in Group E. Nigeria will be making her first appearance since they last won the AFCON title in 2013.
“We are happy and I’m proud of my young team. We have not been to AFCON since 2013, but we have been able to break the bridges. My players deserve all praises, they fought for the pride of the country,” an elated Rohr said.
Nigeria will now shift focus to Tuesday’s international friendly against Uganda at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

Brighton defender, Leon Balogun who suffered knock on Saturday has been excused from the game while Spain based defender Kenneth Omeruo will be leaving for Europe from Nigeria.
