Egwuekwe ruled out of Maritzburg clash

Former Super Eagles defender Azubuike Egwuekwe has had his hope of making his debut for his new South African side Supersport United this weekend, dashed.

Egwuekwe who joined the South African league side this summer from Finnish club side Kups, received his work permit on Tuesday.

Since joining the side, the former Warri Wolves defence stalwart has been struggling for fitness and therefore he was not considered for the KwaZulu-Natal trip.

Centreback Egwuekwe played for Nigeria in South Africa when they won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and returned for the 2014 Chan tournament.
