English Club name stand after Ikeme

English semi professional club, Wednesfield FC has named a stand in their home ground after Super Eagles goalkeeper Carl Ikeme.

Ikeme was diagnosed of acute leukemia three weeks ago and had since commenced chemotherapy in a London hospital.

The club wrote on their twitter page: “We will officially open and re-name our new stand in support of @Carl_Ikeme of @Wolves,” Wednesfield FC tweeted Wednesday afternoon.

“We’d hoped to sell the naming of the Stand to raise funds, however it was felt support of @Carl_Ikeme was worth much more”.

Their move touched the former Middleborough goaltender and he quickly showed his appreciation.

“Thanks for the support guys. Can’t tell u how much I appreciate it.”

Ikeme in the last few weeks has received worldwide attention due to his illness. The goalkeeper remain hopeful about picking up his career again.
