Despite Nigeria’s Super Eagles picking up a point in Constantine against the Desert Foxes of Algeria on Friday, former team goalkeeper and captain Vincent Enyeama was not happy about the referee’s action.
The Gabonese referee Eric Arnud Otogo Castane awarded Algeria a controversial penalty late in the game, to Cancel out John Ogu’s earlier goal for Nigeria.
And now the referee’s action in the game, has generated worldwide attention to the game.
Enyeama too has now joined millions of football lovers around Africa, in condemning the referee’s late call.
In his reaction on his social media handle he wrote, @vinpee “Just why I hate African referees they are a kill joy. #ALGNGA”
Despite announcing his retirement from the National team, Nigerians have been calling for the return of the safe hand to the team.
