A Stanley Dimgba brace in Aba helped Enyimba return to winning ways and also extend their unbeaten run to nine matches and also moved them into second place in group A in a MatchDay 15 encounter in the 2019 Nigeria Professional Football League [NPFL].

Enyimba handed a start to young Stephen Manyo in the heart of defense and Reuben Bala started as a false nine in the place of a dedicated striker. Kwara United also handed starts to ex Enyimba players who included Uche Owuasanya and Ebenezer Odeyemi.

Smarting from a drab goalless draw against visiting Bendel Insurance last Sunday, the Aba Elephants needed a quick response for their fans and got off to a quick start after Stanley Dimgba was set free on the left side of the final third in a quick attack in the first minute and he made no mistakes with his shot as he found the far post for the opener.

The Visiting Afonja Warriors rallied to give a response of their own but had the defensive pairing of Nelson Ogbonnaya and Stephen Manyo equal to the task which meant that goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda had little to do.

Enyimba weathered the resurgence of their visitors and had a few chances but failed to capitalize as they went into the break with the slim 1-0 lead.

The second half started like the first with the home team pressing for more goals but this time, were unlucky as they found a better composed Kwara United defensive to contend with.

With Enyimba already hit with a couple of hard tackles, Coach Abd’Allah had to replace Reuben Bala with striker Chinedu Udechukwu in search for more goals which came off the boots of Stanley Dimgba after a good team play found him at the edge of the box, which he lobbed cheekily over the onrushing Kwara United goalkeeper, Ishola, into the empty net.

Kwara United who were already down to 10 men before the second goal after Sunday Akinmoladun saw red for two bookable offences, threw in Alamoyo and Magaji in search of something but it never came and they had to return to Ilorin winless in their last two games.

The victory means Enyimba leapfrog MFM FC, who drew goalless to Lobi Stars in Lagos, into second place with healthier goal difference and will travel to Markurdi to face Lobi Stars while Kwara United travel to Enugu to face in-form Rangers.
