Enyimba International midfielder Ikechukwu Ibenegbu will miss the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 29 fixture against FC Ifeanyi Ubah this weekend due to suspension.
Following controversy over the week about Ibenegbu’s eligibility against Niger Tornadoes on matchday 28, the League Management Company (LMC), organizers of the NPFL has revealed that the Super Sand Eagles star will serve his one match suspension for cards accumulation in Sunday’s Oriental Derby clash in Nnewi.
Ibenegbu was shown his fifth yellow card of the season against Akwa United on matchday 27 in Uyo.
“LMC directs that Ikechukwu Ibenegbu must serve the one match suspension when Enyimba plays FC Ifeanyi Ubah this Sunday,” read an LMC statement.
Meanwhile, Niger Tornadoes have accepted the verdict of LMC after their protest to be awarded three points and three goals against Enyimba was thrown out.
“Niger Tornadoes accept the decision of LMC dismissing their protest against Enyimba and pledges to abide by rules of NPFL and NFF.
“Niger Tornadoes letter was signed by their secretary, Aliyu Muazu and the club emphasized they accepted LMC’s decision in good faith,” LMC revealed via their official Twitter account.
