The duo of Enyimba International forward, Christian Obiozor and Ezekiel Bassey will return to the camp of the Peoples Elephant this week, Naijafootballplus.com can exclusive report.
Christian Obiozor who was announced by Orlando Pirates to have signed a deal with the Bucs few weeks ago and Barcelona B export Ezekiel Bassey have been mandated to resume training with Enyimba.
Naijafootballplus.com sources inside Enyimba camp has revealed there was never a deal between the two-time African champions and Orlando Pirates for Obiozor to move to South Africa while Bassey suffered a set back in Spain.
“When Pirates announced Obiozor we kept quiet, we didn’t make any official statements but the media and fans were criticizing us. The truth was that there was never a deal between both teams,” the source said to Naijafootballplus.com.
“Our partners took Obiozor to South Africa for trials and before we knew it we saw the news in the media about a deal for Obiozor. Transfers are not done on the pages of newspaper and we have once again proved we are a professional club.
“The contract that took Bassey to Spain was for six months and it was agreed if he impresses and make it to the main team he will get a contract extension. Unfortunately, for him he got injured and he couldn’t play. Sad for the player, both players will resume back to our camp this week.
“Nigeria media should endeavour to ask questions from appropriate quarters, we will be happy to see Obiozor move abroad and cash in on him but Pirates thought they could play dirty. We are a professional club with standard for transfers and we stand firm for professionalism.
“If Obiozor impresses in South Africa and Pirates want him there are due process for this and not the media game they played. It was funny reading the news which broke from Pirates media, Obiozor will be in the county and everyone will see for themselves,” the source concluded.
