Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly member, Honourable Nse Essien has applauded the appointment of Nigeria’s FIFA badge referee, Ferdinand Udoh for the 2017 AFCON U-17 tournament in Gabon.
CAF has appointed the only Nigerian Referee at Elite B level for the AFCON U-17 tournament that kicks off on Sunday in Gabon.
The House of Assembly member said he is proud of the of the Akwa Ibom State top referee’s appointment for the junior cadet championship.
“I have read and heard a lot of good things about Udoh in the NPFL. I am proud of his courage and how he has distinguished himself among other referees in Nigeria and Africa,” said Essien to Naijafootballplus.com.
Gabon the host country will face Guinea in the opening match of the tournament at the Stade Port Gentil, Port Gentil.
The Nigeria National U17 team failed to qualify for the tournament after losing out to Niger Republic in the qualifiers.
“We are expecting an amazing performance from him and we are confident he will make us proud. Our National U17 failed to qualify for the tournament but we are happy Udoh will represent us well and good,” he added.
