Etebo, Ezekiel, Emenike unable to stop UD Las Palmas relegation

The trio of Oghenekaro Etebo, Emmanuel Emenike and Imoh Ezekiel failed to rescue their Spanish La Liga side UD Las Palmas from relegation.

Etebo joined the Spanish side on loan from Portuguese side CD Feirense, Emenike is on loan from Olympiacos while Imoh Ezekiel joined as a free agent.

The club’s relegation was confirmed on Sunday after they were trounced 4-0 by Deportivo Alaves.

A double from the opposition’s Mohammed Munir as well as strikes from Alvaro Medran and Ruben Sobrino put Paco Jemez’ side to the bitter defeat at the Gran Canaria Stadium.

Former Warri Wolves midfielder Etebo has been an important player for the team since joining them during the winter transfer window, while Ezekiel has been skeletally involved in games. Emenike on the other hand is yet to kick a ball.

During the week the duo of Isaac Success and Brown Ideye also failed to rescue Malaga from relegation when they lost to Levante 1-0.

Las Palmas is placed 19th with 21 points from 33 matches 13 points behind Levante who occupy 17th spot.

The Nigerians are expected to return to their parent club at the end of the season.
