Euro wrap: Etebo solid for Las Palmas, Lookman, Kelechi shine

We comb various European football centers to bring you a wrap of Nigerian players who were in action for their clubs in Europe on Friday.

TURKEY -Super League

It ended Yeni Malatyaspor 1-1 Kasimpasa with striker Emem Eduok and on-loan Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo teaming up for the visitors (Kasimpasa) against their Nigerian colleague Okechukwu Azubuike .

Azubuike was subbed off six minutes after the hour mark, while Eduok who was booked in the 58th minute was replaced by Ilhan Depe three minutes later.

SPAIN – La Liga

It’s exciting times for La Liga fans in Nigeria with several players from the country moving to Spain’s famous top division.

Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo who was Man of the match for Las Palmas in their 1-0 win over Malaga last time out, started for the relegation threatened side in their 0-0 draw away at Athletic Bilbao at the San Mames Stadium.

NETHERLANDS – Eerste Divisie

Former Golden Eaglets captain Kelechi Nwakali who is on loan from Arsenal to MVV Maastricht was on from the start in their 2-0 win away to Cambuur .

Nwakali was withdrawn for Shermaine Martina in the 90th minute after a good outing.

BELGUIM – First Division

Forward Peter Olayinka was moved into a five men midfield for Zulte-Waregem but lost 1-3 against host Genk.

Olayinka was on for the entire duration of the match, but failed to help his side avoid defeat.

GERMANY – Bundesliga

On-loan Everton forward at RB Leipzig Ademola Lookman came on for Naby Keita in the 79th minute for the energy drink powered side’s 2-0 win over Augsburg.

Lookman who is an English junior international scored last week for Leipzig and has shown interest in opening talks with the NFF to switch his senior international career to Nigeria ahead of the 2018 World Cup in the summer.
