Nigerian midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo was on target for Feirense in their 1-3 loss to Braga in Monday night’s Portuguese league matchday 12 fixture.
With all the goals coming in the first half, the home side Braga shot into a three-goal lead with strikes from Bruno Vianna in the 9th minute and a double from Paulinho in the 36th and 38th minutes to give out of form Feirense a mountain to climb.
Etebo then reduced the deficit with a goal in the second minute of stoppage time to give the visitors some fighting chance heading into the break.
That was as good as it got for Feirense who have now set an unwanted record of losing five consecutive games as they continue to flirt dangerously with the relegation zone.
Etebo’s goal follows a bizarre sequence of scoring in games his team ends up losing, with his previous goals coming against Sporting Lisbon where he hit with a brace but still ended losing 2-3, the other was a 1-2 loss to Portimonense in September.
Etebo also received his first yellow card of the season with a 34th minute caution.
Feirense are in 14th position on the league table with 11 points from 12 games, just four points away from the relegation places in the 18 team league.
Etebo and Feirense will have to arrest their poor run of form when they host Desportivo Aves who a a point below them next week Sunday.
