Euro Watch: Salami, Gabriel get on the score sheet as Nigerians suffer mixed fortunes

We start our Nigerian players in Europe roundup in Finland where former Warri wolves striker Gbolahun Salami came from the bench in the 65th minute to spark live into his Kups Fc side who were losing 1-2 to visiting HIFK Fc.

Salami equalised in the 76th minute before his Nigerian teammate Reuben Gabriel, completed the turn around with an 84th minute winner.

Sylvester Igboun scored in the 77th minute for Russian league side FC Ulfa in what turned out to be the winner against Arsenal Tula.

Sylvester’s goal was the only goal of the game which ended 1-0 in Ulfa’s favour.

Friday Eze opened his goal scoring account for Turkish side Konyaspor in the 73rd minute to make it 2-0 against Akhisar Belediyespor.

Super Eagles left back Elderson Echiejile was on for 90 minutes in Sivasspor 2-3 loss to visiting Goztepe in the Turkish Super League.

In the English championship, on loan Chelsea right back Ola Aina put up a
man of the match performance for Hull City who were forced to a 1-1 draw by their host Reading FC.

In Austria, former Akwa United midfielder Alhassan Ibrahim played for the
entire duration in Austria Wien’s 0-0 draw away to Salzburg.

In Portugal, Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo was on for 90 minutes as his team Feirense suffered a huge 1-4 loss at home to Belenenses.

In Denmark Nigerian midfielder Izunna Uzochukwu was out through suspension, but his team OB Fc coped comfortably in his absence winning 3-1 against visiting Randers FC.

Nigerian left back Chidozie Awaziem put in a brilliant shift for Nantes in their 2 -1 win away to Strasbourg as the Claudio Ranieiri managed French League One side continue their chase for a promotion finish.

In the Netherlands, former Nigerian U-17 star Kelechi Nwakali who is on loan from Arsenal came in as a 75th minute substitute VVV-Venlo in their 1-1 draw at home to PEC Zwolle.

Still in the Dutch league, Super Eagles right back Tyrone Ebuehi was solid in ADO Den Haag 1-0 win over Sparta Rotterdam playing the entire 90 minutes.

In Belgium Super Eagles forward Henry Onyekuru seems to be battling to secure a starting spot at Anderlect as he came on as a 49th minute substitute to help his side win 2-1 against Waasland-Beveren.

Denis Bonaventure was subbed off in the 62nd minute of play in Club Brugge 2-1 win away to Sporting Charleroi.

The Nigerian trio of Simon Moses, Anderson Esiti and Samuel Kalu all featured for Gent who lost 0-1 to Zulte-Waregem, who paraded another Nigerian in striker Peter Olayinka.

While Olayinka who was booked in the 28th minute and Moses Simon lasted 90 minutes, Samuel Kalu made his return from a spell on the sidelines through injury when he replaced his Nigerian colleague Anderson Esiti in the 56th minute.

Still in Belgium were on loan Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi, started for Royal Excel Mouscron in their thrilling 3-2 win over
Eupen.

Awoniyi a former U-17 and U-20 Nigerian player was subbed off with 2 minutes left to play before his side eventually received a red card at the 90th minute.

Super Eagles defender Uche Agbo has been listed to start for Standard Liege in their match against Lokeren.

In Isreal, super Eagles midfielder John Ogu and striker Anthony Nwakeme both featured for Hapoel Beer Sheva in their 1-1 draw away to Hapoel Haifa.

Out of favour super Eagles defender Efe Ambrose lasted the entire duration of Hibernian’s 1-0 win over Ross County in the Scottish league.

Nigerian forward Kayode Olanrewaju was thrown in at the 60th minute for Girona, who were defeated 3-0 by European giants Barcelona in the Spanish Laliga.

Kayode on loan from Manchester City was yellow carded in the 80th minute.

In Italy, it was a one sided Turin derby as Juventus demolished 10 men Torino 4-0 with on loan Roma striker Sadiq Umar an unused substitute for Torino, while Nigerain midfielder Joel Obi is still out recovering from an injury.
