Europa League: Iwobi’s Arsenal handed tough draw


For English Premier League side Arsenal to qualify for the UEFA Champions league through the back door, they must overcome Spanish La Liga giants Atletico Madrid in the Semi final.

The two teams were paired in the semi final draw that was conducted in Nyon Switzerland on Friday.

Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi played a key role for the Gunners’ side in getting to the semi final of the competition.

The Gunners overpowered CSKA Moscow of Russia in the quarter final 5-2 on aggregate while Atletico Madrid went through 2-1 on aggregate despite losing the return leg 1-0 to Sporting of Portugal.

Arsenal will travel to Spain for the first leg on the 26th of April and play the second leg at the Emirates on the 5th of May.

The other Semi final will see Olympique Marseille take on Salzburg of Austria.
