Enyimba FC goalkeeper and Nigerian international, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, is set to return to full fitness sooner than expected.
The CHAN Eagles captain who led the team a second place finish in the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) held in Morocco earlier this year suffered an injury in the semifinal game against Sudan.
He spoke to Score Nigeria in Abuja and couldn’t hide his happiness with his recovery.
“I am happy to have started by rehab in Abuja and I am much better and feeling lesser pain now.”
“I can jump very well and even get involved in some light exercises. I am better today after the first recuperating fitness training”
“I am actually recovering faster than expected I give God the glory.” He said
The experienced goalkeeper, who became the Super Eagles’ number one during the World Cup qualifiers after Carl Ikeme was diagnosed with leukemia, is focused on his return to full fitness and making the Super Eagles World Cup team.
“My wish is to return to the field of play soonest as the doctors are doing a great job in ensuring I maintain a good fitness level.” He added.
He never forgot giving gratitude to the Nigeria Football Federation for their massive support in his time on the sidelines.
“I want to thank the NFF for their support till date. I have received a massive support from the Officials of the Nigeria Football Federation.” He concluded.
Ezenwa joined Enyimba International late last year after his contract with FC Ifeanyi Ubah ran out, with the Nnewi-based club unable to renew.
