Despite qualifying for the AFCON 2019 with a game to spare, Nigeria’s Super Eagles have ended the year 2018 in the 44th position as FIFA released the final ranking for the year.
The latest ranking which was released on Thursday saw Eagles the garner 1427 points for the month.
Nigeria put up not too impressive performance for the Russia 2018 World Cup winning a game and losing two.
But the team bounced back strongly in AFCON 2019 qualifiers despite losing the first game to Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
The ranking also ensured Nigeria finished 4th in Africa behind Senegal, Tunisia and Morocco.
Nigeria will have the opportunity to better its ranking in the new year as the Federation has lined up series of friendly matches for the team ahead of the AFCON tournament.
