FIFA U20 World Cup: Success Makanjuola wants Qatar victory as birthday gift


Flying Eagles forward Success Makanjuola says a victory in Nigeria 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup opener against Qatar today (Friday) will be the perfect gift for his 18th birthday celebration.


The Water FC forward who added another year to his age today has said, he will be the most happiest player in Poland if his team beat Qatar at the 15,300–capacity Tychy Stadium.


Nigeria will take on Qatar in Group D first game at 5pm Nigeria time, while the second group game will kickoff at 7.30pm Nigeria time between Ukraine and USA.


“Amazing and emotional day for me, today is my birthday and interestingly we are playing our first World Cup game against Qatar. We have prepared for the tournament and we had great experience in Germany, we have also enjoy everything in Poland since we arrived, battle against the weather and perfecting our plans for the World Cup.



“I have to put aside the birthday celebration and focus on the game, the game is important to us, the game will determine our journey in Poland and we must start on a winning note. Likewise, Qatar also want to win and that makes it a more interesting game. I will be the most excited player in Poland if we win today, I will be high emotionally and celebrate the points on my special day with my teammates and coaches,” Makanjuola said to
