Finding form: Iheanacho on target for Leicester U23

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho continues to find his feet and form with former English champions Leicester City as he netted for their Under-23 side on Monday night.

Kelechi joined the Foxes this summer but is yet to rubber stamp his position in the Leicester City first team.

The game at KC stadium featured recuperating players like Robert Huth, Yohan Benalouane and new signings Eldin Jakupović and Vicente Iborra as Leicester thrashed visiting West Ham 3-1.

The young Nigeria striker scored the opener in the 47th minuteman before Iborra added the second goal and George Thomas hit the third while, Toni Martinez reduced the tally for the hammers.

Kelechi who was on target for Nigeria in the first leg of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Cameroon is yet to score for Leicester City’s first team and was in action when the Foxes lost 1-2 to Chelsea on Saturday.

Iheanacho was left disappointed after his debut in front of the home fans for his new club Leicester City ended in the loss to visiting Chelsea.

Goals from Alvaro Morata and Leicester City old boy Ngolo Kante put Chelsea into the lead before Jamie Vardy scored from the penalty spot to ensure a nervy finish to the game.

“It was a disappointing result but we’ll forget about it and move on. We need to work more in training so we get the results we need,” Iheanacho said in a post match interview.

The 20-year-old will hope his goal for the U-23’s will put him within a good chance of starting in Leicester City’s next Premier League match away at newly promoted Huddersfield Town
