Enyimba International defender Ikouwem Udoh has told Naijafootballplus.com he is delighted following his invitation to the Nigeria U20 National team.
The Super Eagles left-back has been invited to the Flying Eagles by head coach of Nigeria’s U20 team Paul Aigbogun ahead of the 2019 Africa U20 Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The 18-year-old defender made his NPFL debut last season for the People’s Elephant and played over a dozen of league matches including his five-star performance at the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco.
“I am delighted to be invited to the Flying Eagles just few weeks after the CHAN tournament in Morocco, I am proud to be called up and also to represent my country at this level,” an elated Udoh said to Naijafootballplus.com.
Udoh emerged as Nigeria’s Young Player of the year at the 2017 Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) awards night on Monday in Lagos.
He added: “I am honoured to emerge as the best young player in Nigeria, it is a big challenge for me to continue working hard. I don’t have to relent but to sustain the momentum and also for me to improve my game.
“I am looking forward to a better season with Enyimba and also with the U20 national team. Obviously, the process is good and it comes with more work and concentration. I want to appreciate Enyimba for the platform to play in the main team last season.
