Ex-Super Eagles striker Shola Ameobi will have to look elsewhere when the new season commence as he was among the players released by the League Two side Notts county.
The League two side who lost at the semi final of the promotion play off on Tuesday rolled out the list of 10 players they would not be renewing their contracts.
The club coach Kevin Nolan who was also a teammate to Ameobi during his playing days at Newcastle also gave his thought about the players released.
“I can’t thank the lads enough for their
committed efforts in my first full season here at Notts County.
“These decisions are some of the hardest, if not the hardest, we make as a management team and it’s never an easy time for everyone involved.
“I would like to put on record my thanks to all of the players who are moving on and wish them all the best for their future,” he told the club website.
Ameobi who made 54 appearances and netted 10 goals for the club, last represented Nigeria at the 2014 world cup in Brazil under the tutelage of late coach Stephen Keshi.
