Frank Onyeka back in the headlines, scores for Midtjylland in 6-goal thriller

Young Nigerian striker Frank Onyeka is enjoying a brilliant breakthrough season for title chasing Midtjylland FC after scoring a late equalizer to secure a 3-3 draw away to AaB in the Denmark Superligaen Championship Playoff on Sunday.

Onyeka who is just 20 years old, came off the bench for Midtjylland in the 82nd minute for Tim Sparv before scoring in added time to rescue his side from defeat in a trilling 6 goal-feast at Aalborg Portland Park Stadium.

Bubacarr Sanneh gave Midtjylland the lead in the 19th minute, before Filip Lesniak 27’ and Pavol Safranko 34’ turned it around for AaB FC to put them them in front at halftime.

The second half saw parity restored with a Jakob Poulsen equalizer for Midtjylland in the 63rd minute.

Nigerian Paul Onuachu joined the fray for Midtjylland when he replaced Gustav Wikheim in the 72nd minute as the visitors went in search of the winner. An 80th minute yellow card for the injury returnee summed up his contributions.

AaB seemed to have scored the match winner in the 77th minute off the boots of Abou Ali, before super sub Frank Onyeka equalized yet again for the visitors in added time to bring full time scores to 3-3.

Frank Onyeka has now registered 3 goals in 9 matches for Midtjylland since coach Jess Thorup promoted the youngster from the U19s this year.
