Ngozi Elechi, Coach of Nigeria National League side Go-Round FC, has made bold to say he will leave his position if his team fails to gain promotion to the Nigerian top flight at the end of the season.
Elechi speaking at the weekend in Omoku, Rivers state said his main priority for the club is to gain NPFL status and that mission will take precedence over any other thing the club does this season.
Go-Round FC has had promotion as its priority for past few seasons with Elechi in charge and following the clubs great start to the current season, the Omoku born coach believes that dream would become a reality this time out.
“The target of Go Round Football club is to be in the Premier League. That is why I have told my players that we have to do it now or never.
“If Go Round does not gain promotion that means I have to step aside as Go Round Coach and relax. I will still remain with the technical crew but I won’t head the team if the club does not gain promotion”.
Confidence is currently high in the Go Round camp and following a 3:1 win over Papilo FC at the weekend, the club sits atop the NNL Southern Conference League table with 19pts having a better goals difference than second placed Crown FC and third placed Heartland who also have the same number of points.
It however promises to be a tough battle for promotion this term, as clubs like Delta Force, Gateway United and Bayelsa United all on 18pts are also keen on getting promoted.
