Go Round FC huffed and puffed but lost 1-0 to hosts, Crown FC in the Nigeria National League.
The goal, scored as early as the 5th minute came off the boots of Fimihan Atinusola from a corner kick as the Go Round FC defenders were guilty of ball watching.
Atinusolam controlled the ball well and with all the space and time in the world he picked his spot to blast beyond the reach of Go Round FC goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali.
Late in the game, Maurice Chukwu was sent off for a second bookable offence as the home side went on to win the game.
Coach of Crown FC, Oladuni Oyakale gave God the glory for the win and rated Go Round FC above his side.
“We give God the glory. It was an established Go Round side against my young team. It was a tough match. We had the edge because we scored quickly. They played well but they lost it because they did not take their chances,” Oyekale said.
Ngozi Elechi of Go Round FC blamed the officials for the loss but said their promotion chances have not been derailed.
“The game was okay. We had a good fight and even after we got the red card, we kept on fighting. This loss has not in any way spoiled our promotion chances. Today my boys have shown they can play,” Elechi said.
Go Round return to Omoku for a game against Delta Force on Saturday.
