The Nigeria National League game in Omoku between Go Round FC and Crown FC will continue on Thursday morning after the pitch became unplayable following heavy rains at half-time.
The game started on a dry pitch but as soon as the half-time whistle sounded, the heavens opened up and in fifteen minutes the pitch was too flooded for the game to go on.
Highlights of the first-half saw Nelson Esor almost scoring in the 2nd minute when Crown FC goalkeeper, Araromi Ibukun left his line but Esor’s effort was saved off the line.
A few minutes later Ebuka Akobundu’s long throw-in caused panic in the Crown
FC area but the ball was scrambled away for a corner.
In the 33rd minute, Lanigan Gbenga lurking behind Go Round FC defenders, caught them off guard and his effort went off the upright as fans of the home side heaved a sigh of relief.
After the half-time break, the referees inspected the pitch and decided the game could not be played anymore and it will now continue on Thursday morning at 8am.
