Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has all but confirmed Kelechi Iheanacho’s imminent departure from the citizens.
Iheanacho is way bellow the pecking order in the attack of the citizens who have Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero, with Leroy Sane able to also play as a false nine.
The former Barcelona coach explained why he had to let Iheanacho go.
“Kelechi is a young player. As a manager it is an honour to work with him. It was not easy for him, I didn’t give a lot of chances,” Guardiola is quoted as saying by Manchester Evening News.
“He decided to stay in Manchester (instead of going on tour) and maybe next week he will finish.
“We have an option to take him back. We believe he deserves to play at that age. That’s why we decided what’s best.”
The Super Eagles top striker played 20 Premier League games last season scoring 4 goals with most as a late substitute.
