History Maker: Adi becomes Timbers all time top scorer


Nigeria and Portland Timbers of major league soccer striker, Fanendo Adi on saturday netted an 88th minutes penalty to give his team Portland Timbers a 3-1 victory over Philadephia union.

Richie Marquez had put the struggling Union – who are bottom in the east ahead, but Darlington Nagbe levelled before the break for Portland. A Roy Miller goal and Fanendo Adi penalty secured the points for the Timbers, who are three points clear at the top. It was Adi’s fifth goal of the season

With his goal, Adi who has only been invited to the Super Eagles of Nigeria just once but never got to feature became the all-time leading goal scorer for Timbers with 46 goals in 92 appearances.
