After qualifying for the upcoming CHAN tournament slated for Kenya in 2018, home based Eagles are to resume preparation ahead of the West Africa Football Union tournament.
The newly revived WAFU regional competition will start this weekend in Ghana and Nigeria will slug it out with Sierra Leone in the first qualifying contest.
If they pull through, they will move to the round Robin stage of the competition.
The team will be without two key players who took part in the match against Benin Republic as they have signed for foreign clubs thereby becoming ineligible.
Akwa United forward Alhassan Ibrahim joined Austria Wien, while MFM and NPFL top goalscorer Stephen Odey teamed up with FC Zurich in Switzerland before the European transfer window closed.
Coach of the home based Eagles Salisu Yusuf will hope to give opportunities to other league stars like Lobi stars striker Anthony Okpotu who has notched 18 goals in the Nigeria Professional Football League this season, to express themselves.
The WAFU tournament will start from September 9 to 24, 2017 in Ghana.
