If reports coming from England are anything to go by, then Super Eagles centre back and Mainz 05 defender Leon Balogun might be joining the list of Nigerian players plying their trade in the premier league.

The Sun, reported on Monday morning that Premier league side Huddersfield are close to wrapping up their first signing of the summer transfer window, despite the fact no one can be totally sure what division David Wagner’s side will be in.

Leon Balogun who is still nursing a minor injury, will be a free agent during summer and the ‘Terriers’ quickly want to seal the deal before the World cup in Russia.

The 29 year old former Darmstadt defender who can play either as a centre back or fullback joined Mainz 05 in 2015 and has been one of the top performers for the Zerofivers.

Huddersfield would be eager to have a potential deal wrapped up early because a good outing for the defender at the World cup may lead to interest from European heavyweight clubs.
