Abia Warriors striker, Obi Samson has expressed his desire to go ahead and score as many goals as possible for the Umuahia based side.
Obi Sampson was speaking to journalists in Umuahia after his brace helped his team to a 2-0 victory over visiting Wikki Tourists at the weekend. He feels it is going to be a good season for him as he has hit the back of the net five times already and expects to score more in the coming games.
“I think this will be a good season for me. Five goals so far and I hope to score more goals. I want to score between 15 and 20 goals this season” he said.
He went on to share the confidence he had on the day which was further boosted by his coach the break.
“I believed I would score because after the first half, my coach asked me to just go there and score the goal, and I did just as he asked” he added.
Abia Warriors coach, Emmanuel Deutsch has complained regularly about the inability of his forward line to score goals this season and the striker informs that his coach always feels disappointed when the goals don’t come.
Samson believes the absence of fellow striker Sunday Adetunji due to injury gives him the opportunity to feature and etch his name in gold.
“Coach Deutsch is a good coach and as a striker, he’s not happy if you don’t score for him even in the trainings and that’s why I want to score always both in the trainings and in every game.
“I think Adetunji’s absence has given me a chance to prove my mettle for Abia Warriors because I only managed a few goals and he was our top scorer.
“His absence has made it easier for me to get more game time and subsequently more opportunity to score more goals this season” he concluded.
Obi Samson has only scored once for Abia Warriors away from home, in the oriental derby in Nnewi, but has scored four in Umuahia and the fans who are hungry for goals will hope he scores more for the Umuahia based club.
