Manager of English Premier League struggling side Sunderland FC, David Moyes has stated in clear terms that the team requires the services of former Nigeria striker Victor Anichebe, if they must survive the relegation battle this season.
Anichebe who has been out of action due to injury since January played a pivotal role in the team’s improved performances during winter, recording 4 wins in 7 games, but since he got injured Sunderland have struggled and have sunk even deeper into relegation.
Sunderland are currently bottom of the Premier League and Moyes is hopeful Anichebe could be back sooner rather than later.
“We hope that Victor could be back,” Moyes said.
“We’re really looking to see if we can get back Victor. There are no guarantees but I know Victor’s doing a bit more running and hopefully getting closer.
“My bigger worry is how he can get a level of match fitness to make a difference and help us in such a short time”, he concluded.
