Coach of Nigeria senior national male football team, Gernot Rohr have made it clear that his future as coach of the Super Eagles is tied on Nigeria qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
In a studio interview granted to Super Sports, Rohr was asked about his plans if Nigeria fails to make it to the World Cup:
“I will leave Nigeria if we fail to qualify for the world cup. The objective is to qualify for Russia. That is the contract ”
“There is no pressure, because we are in good position in our group. We shall try to beat Cameroon in August”.
The coach also answered questions on the defensive problems of the team especially the full back position :
”We have Tyronne and Madu who may have game time issues, but we’re working to get more options. I am confident we can get players,” Rohr said.
”We have committed time in finding full backs.
”We have an option in Ola Aina of Chelsea , who has committed to Nigeria.”
The Super Eagles will camp in France just immediately after the European season ends, and will engage in some friendlies before returning to Nigeria to face South Africa in an AFCON qualifier match in Uyo, June 10.
