Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye found the back of the net for Malaga against Valencia on Saturday, but a late collapse ensured they took nothing from the game.
Ideye who joined the Spanish outfit in the winter transfer window from Chinese side Tianjin Teda on-loan was only playing in his third game for the bottom placed La Liga team, pounced on an assist from Jose Recio in the 27th minute to open scoring for the home side against third placed Valencia at the Estadio La Rosaleda.
Before that goal from Brown Ideye, out of form Malaga has scored just once in eight matches in a run that has seen them fail to score at home since November 19.
Their frailty was exposed late on as former Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin pounced on a cross from Parejo to equalize in the 80th minute in what was Valencia’s first meaningful attack all day and first shot on goal.
More drama soon followed when Ignasi Miquel was sent off for Malaga for a contentious penalty call that was dispatched by Parejo in the 84th minute to hand all three points to Valencia.
Ideye since joining Malaga has lost two of his previous games with a one goal margin to Las Pamas featuring Etebo and second placed Atletico Madrid respectively.
