Ighalo scores in Changchun Yatai rout of Shanghai SIPG

Super Eagles and former Watford striker Odion Ighalo on Sunday helped his Chinese club Changchun Yatai secure maximum three points against Shanghai SIPG.

Ighalo who was lively throughout the encounter was fouled inside the 18-yard box in the 22nd minute which led to a spot-kick been awarded. The penalty was well taken by Szabolcs Huszti.

Zhe Jiang and Long Tan scored in the space of four minutes to increase Yatai’s lead to 3-0. Shanghai SIPG pulled one back via an owngoal by Xiaofei Zhang.

Ighalo soon made it 4-1 in the 58th minute when he slotted home after he was put through on goal by Huszti.

Shenglong Li scored a second goal for SIPG but failed to score another as the game finished 4-2.

The victory propelled Yatai to 10th Position on the Chinese Super League log with 19 points.

Ighalo who joined the team in the winter transfer window, has so far scored 4 goals in 14 appearances
