Former Watford striker and Super Eagles star Odion Ighalo was taken to hospital after sustaining an injury in 3-2 loss to Shanghai Shenhua after receiving a knock to his left ankle joint.
Ighalo who moved to Changchun Yatai during the January winter transfer window scored both goals for his side before taking a blow to his ankle that forced the coach to withdraw him in the 73rd minute.
Early diagnosis suggests Ighalo will be out for about 4 weeks with the ankle injury that appears to be a reoccurrence of previous injury suffered at Watford.
If deemed a serious injury, this could possibly rule out Ighalo from taking part in Nigeria’s AFCON qualifier match against South Africa in June.
