Iheanacho in race against time to be fit for Cameroon tie

As Nigeria gears up for the all-important 2018 world Cup qualifier double-header against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, newly acquired Nigeria and Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho is a big doubt for the game due to a toe injury.

The injury forced Iheanacho to sit out Leicester City’s Premier League 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion.

Iheanacho sustained the injury in a pre-season friendly against German Bundesliga side Borrusia Mochengladbach, his first match for the debut.

The player has been sent to see a specialist, which might potentially rule him out of the qualifier if deemed serious.

Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr is set to name his squad this week that will battle Cameroon.

Nigeria will host the first leg of the encounter in Uyo before going to Yaounde for the second leg four days later.
