Ahead of this weekend’s clash between Rangers international and last season’s CAF champions league semi finalist Zesco United, Rangers coach Imama Amapakabo is not ignorant of the threat the Zambian side pose to the Nigeria league champions.
Zesco United last weekend lifted the Zambia charity shield which put the team in the right frame of mind ahead of the clash but Imama is hopeful his low-scoring side will produce the goods come Saturday.
“Zesco is a strong team from what I know about them and they are also doing well in their own league but hopefully we will secure victory by a good number of goals to continue staying in the competition,” said Amakapabo.
The Flying Antelopes were eliminated from the much prestigious Total CAF Champions League by Egyptian side, Zamalek, 5-3 on aggregate thereby dropping down to Africa’s second club competition.
Zesco United on the other hand reached this stage of the competition after beating Le Messager Ngozi of Burundi 4-2 on aggregate at the 1/16th round.
Meanwhile, a source has informed naijafootballplus that Rangers coach Imama Amapakabo has been given a win or burst order by the management of the club who agreed this in a meeting early Wednesday morning.
“Going by the warning he got at the meeting, he stands little or no chance of remaining as coach of the team if we don’t win,” a club source revealed.
