The Nigerian Super sand Eagles were trounced by their Italian opponent in the early hours of today, as both Nations played their opening match of group B in the ongoing FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Bahamas.
Even though Nigeria started the brighter of both sides, the balanced Italians kept their cool to pound Nigeria 12-6.
A hattrick from Abu Azeez, and goals from Victor Tale, Godspower Igudia and Emeka Ogbonna wasn’t enough as Italy’s Gabriele Gori was the supreme star with six goals to his name.
In the other Group B match, Iran beat Mexico 3-2 while African champions Senegal demolished Ecuador 9-0 in opening match of their group.
Up next for Nigeria is a clash against Mexico on Saturday, while Italy take on Iran.
