Iwobi inspires Super Eagles comeback victory over Argentina


Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi scored twice as Nigeria came back from two goals down to comfortably beat Argentina 4-2 in a friendly in Krasnodar on Tuesday.

Ever Banega and a Sergio Aguero tap in gave Argentian a 2-0 lead before Kelechi Iheanacho pulled one back before half-time for the Super Eagles.

Alex Iwobi equalised seven minutes after the restart from a pass by Iheanacho before Brian Idowu who came on as a substitue fired home a third on his debut.

Iwobi provided the pick of the goals when he nutmegged Barcelona’s Javier Mascherano before coolly slotting past Augustin Marchesin in goal for Argentina.

Victory over the Albiceleste of Argentina sees the Super Eagles end 2017 on a high after they sealed qualification to the the 2018 FIFA World cup in Russia with a game to spare.
