In-form Super Eagles striker Junior Ajayi has stated his intention of having his contract with Egyptian premier league champions Al Ahly renewed.
The former Shooting stars forward was on target on Saturday when Al Ahly defeated Tanda 2-1 with him netting first goal.
Ajayi who spoke to Egyptian national television CBC extra on Wednesday said: “I don’t mind renewing with Al Ahly, “I still have a couple of years left in my contract but I would be happy if Al Ahly want to renew my contract.”
When asked if he harbours any dream of playing in Europe, ths skilful forward who was part of the Dream Team VI that claimed Bronze in Rio 2016 Olympic did not rule out the possibility of a move to Europe.
“I don’t know what will happen in the future. I am currently focused on Al Ahly to accomplish our goals and I’m happy to be at one of Africa’s greatest clubs.”
“Aboutrika is my role model”
The 22-year-old also revealed his admiration for former Egyptian and Al Ahly midfielder Aboutrika.
Ajayi added: “Mohamed Aboutrika is my role model in Egypt. “He has magical touches and skills. I
used to watch him with Egypt in the African Cup of Nation when I was in Nigeria and I like
him very much.”
Ajayi made his debut for Nigeria’s Super Eagles in the international friendly match against Serbia in London.
