Kano Pillars mourn club secretary


The remains of Kano Pillars FC Secretary, Zakari Akilu who passed away on Tuesday morning has been laid to rest in accordance to Islamic rights in his home town of Bichi, Kano State.

Kano Pillars football club was thrown into mourning again as the club broke the sad news via its twitter handle, revealing that Akilu breathed his last at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano.

Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission and former Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, Special Adviser to Kano State Governor on Sports Matters, Alhaji Kabiru Baita, Chairman Kano Pillars FC Alhaji Tukur Babangida, other management staff, players, technical crew and supporters of the club were among the hundreds of people that attended the funeral prayer and burial of the late Akilu in his hometown.

According to the media officer of the club, Rilwanu Idris Malikawa, the funeral prayer was led by Ustaz Amadu Sadani Bichi at the Akilu’s family residence in Bichi town, Kano state and the corpse of late Zakari Akilu was laid to rest at Bichi graveyard by 10:25am.

Condoling the family on behalf of the state government and Kano Pillars FC family, the chairman Kano state sports commission Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima described late Zakari Akilu Bichi as a dedicated, honest and peace loving officer who devoted his life to discharging his primary assignment.

Zakari, aged 50 is survived by a wife and relatives.
