Kano Pillars players minds will need to be psyched up ahead of their weekends fixture in Enugu against Rangers, so says technical adviser of the side Ibrahim Musa.

Pillars were thrown into mourning when news of the death of defender and vice-captain Chinedu Udoji got to them on Sunday.

Udoji, 28, who played and was voted man of the match on matchday 9 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) against his former club Enyimba died in an auto accident on Sunday night while driving back home after visiting old team-mates.

Musa who spoke to Naijafootballplus admitted raising the spirits of the players ahead of the meeting with Rangers is a problem on his hands: “That is my problem, because yesterday (Tuesday) when I called a meeting in the stadium to discuss (Udoji’s death) we know we can’t forget Chinedu, but we have to concentrate on our work first,” said Musa.

“We know we’ve lost Chinedu, he’s a great player for the team. So my problem now is to psyche the guys to start coming back because all their minds is not in football now.”

To help players of Kano Pillars refocus their attention on the task at hand, Musa has fixed a friendly match scheduled to hold on Thursday.

He added: “We have a friendly on Thursday evening because I want to boost the mentality of the boys that is why I organized the friendly. So my problem now from now until the match with Rangers is to psyche the boys, cooling them down to bring them back.”

Kano Pillars who are second on the NPFL league standings travel to the coal city of Enugu where they’ll take on eighth placed Rangers on matchday 10 of the Nigeria Professional Football League.
