Kano Pillars too strong for Wikki Tourists

Stand-in captain Chris Madaki put up a man of the match performance as Kano Pillars kept up the pace in the Nigeria Professional Football League with an impressive 1-1 draw on the road against Wikki Tourists of Bauchi.

The Sai Masu Gida fell behind in the 22nd minute of the game, no thanks to a Nafiu Kabuga penalty after Bala Zakka was tripped in the box.

Sleeky midfielder Alhassan Ibrahim however leveled matters seven minutes later after a nice exchange of pass between goal poacher Junior Lokosa and Chris Madaki.

The home team were forced to make an early substitution with just ten minutes into the game as an injured Abubakar Lawal was replaced by Idris Guda.

With the scoreline 1-1 at halftime, all eyes were on Junior Lokosa to add to his goal tally but the talisman was kept out by a solid Wikki backline until he was taken off for Adamu Hassan in the 64th minute.

At the other end, Wikki Tourists kept pushing for another goal but David Obiozo and his back four were resilient enough to keep the scoreline even.

Kano Pillars who are still second on the log now have 25 points from 16 matches and would return home to play Akwa United on matchday 17 while the 12th placed Wikki Tourists will travel to Akure to play Sunshine Stars.
