Rangers FC midfielder Godwin Aguda says, securing maximum points in their NPFL matchday 17 tie against Kwara United on Sunday is of great importance.
The Flying Antelopes suffered a 1-0 away defeat at the hands of Niger Tornadoes in their last NPFL fixture and will this weekend host Kwara United who are rock bottom of the league, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium Enugu.
Despite being bottom of the league table, Kwara United are yet to lose a game in their last four matches, a form which does not bother Godwin Aguda who believes Rangers are also enjoying a good run at the moment.
“To me we are on a good stead currently, we have not done badly, as we have lost just one game in our last five matches. Losing 1 in 5 isn’t something that is worrisome, so the past few weeks has been fair for us,” Aguda told Naijafootballplus.
The midfielder is however quick to add that despite their level of preparation for the game, Rangers won’t be taking visiting Kwara United for granted.
“It’s always possible for any shock to occur, but we (Rangers) possibly can’t allow the Kwara side to do such, especially in front of our fans.
“We the players know the importance of the match and we’ll put in effort to get the maximum points.”
Aguda also informs that the loss against Niger Tornadoes in their last league match has motivated the team to work harder ahead of the Kwara United fixture.
“The loss against Tornadoes has boosted the players to work hard and also do the needful.
“Practice this week has been an avenue to train and play to the mentality of winning games.”
Rangers are ranked 9th on the league table with 22 points and will seek to better their stead with a win this weekend.
