Following his movement to the English premier league side Brighton Hove Albion, Nigeria’s Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun has sent an emotional farewell message to the German Bundesliga side Mainz05.
He sent the message via his instagram page on Friday afternoon, thanking the club for their acceptance of him for 3 years.
“Hello dear meenzeer, if someone had told me 3 years ago that Mainz could be the reason that I seriously thought about giving up the dream , I would have thought that person was crazy.
At the end of the year I tried to fulfilled the dream and switched to the premier league .
That is why I say thank you to all Mainz coaches, players,staff members, supervisor and employee who has accompanied me during this time.
And of course all fans and people that make this club so special, thank you for 3 great years which I was accepted and from the day one in whic I was able to develop myself as a player.
For the friends I won and my first and only Bundesliga goal and for participating in the Europa league.
For the good and even less good times in which fans has supported us unconditionally.
Even though am looking forward to the premier league with great anticipation , Mainz has become like a family for me, thank you for bringing me into this special moment.
I am proud to be part of Mainz history and I will always carry the club and city in my heart .
I hope that after a successful world cup with my Super Eagles , I will have the opportunity to say goodbye personally . I wish you , the team, and the club the best, see you. Leon.
Balogun is one of the reliable player in the Super Eagles team and will be cynosure of all eyes when the world cup start in Russia.
