The League Management Company (LMC) has meted out heavy punishment and a fine of over 2.5 Million Naira on Wikki Tourists of Bauchi for violent conduct.
They were charged for breaching Nigeria Professional Football League Framework & Rules during their Matchday 33 home game Rangers
After thorough investigation, the LMC has placed a fine of about two million two hundred and fifty thousand (#2.250 million) on Wikki Tourists for various violations of the NPFL Rules and Frameworks. The club was charged for series of offences such as pitch encroachment by supporters, inadequate securities, assault on match officials and opposition team and conduct which brought the league to disrepute.
In addition to the punishment, the Bauchi based club will also play their next three home games behind closed doors with the last two suspended for a probationary period.
However, LMC has also ordered Wikki Tourists to pay the cost of damages to Rangers’ bus and also pay two hundred fifty thousand naira (#250,000) to each of the match officials attacked on the match day.
Wikki have 48 hours to either accept or appeal the LMC’s sanctions.
The League Management Company LMC however commended the management of Wikki Tourists for total co-operation as they have done enough to provide the three suspected culprits leading to the apprehension and prosecution by the police. The three alleged culprits are currently remanded in prison until 31st of August which their judgement will be known.
